The Giving Machines • 2023
Sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Giving Machines are a unique and memorable way to serve others and follow the example of Jesus Christ, who “went about doing good” (see Acts 10:38).
The Mobile Giving Machines are part of a global Christmas initiative called Light the World, sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The campaign aims to encourage people to celebrate Christmas by serving others. Giving Machines are unique vending machines that provide an easy, fun, and memorable way to help people in need—across town or around the world.
Three Giving Machines will travel through the Midwest during the 2023 Christmas season. They will be in Omaha at the Westroads Mall from Nov 21st to Nov 28th. The Grand Unwrapping will be on Nov 21st, and there will be many events and special guests throughout the following week. Afterward, it will travel to Chicago, Des Moines, and St. Louis.
Local and international nonprofit organizations offer essential items that will benefit those they serve, such as food, clothing, education, medical care, shelter, and more.
Item cards are displayed in the Giving Machine for the public to select and donate.
Eight local, national, and international charities will be featured in the Giving Machines in Omaha: Siena Francis House, The Foster Care Closet of Nebraska, House of Bah, OneWorld of Nebraska, Catholic Charities of Omaha, iDE, Mentors International, and The American Red Cross.
Featured items available to purchase (in the form of cards) will include chickens, fruit trees, vaccines, food, doctor’s visits, blankets, clothing, and more. Many options will directly benefit those living in Omaha and the surrounding communities.
How it Works…
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints covers all program operating costs, ensuring that participating nonprofits receive 100% of the donated funds.
An itemized list of donor purchases is provided to the nonprofit organization for fulfillment.
Participating nonprofits may use up to 10% of received funds to cover their overhead expenses.
